Each public university runs its own admissions, usually once or twice a year. Some fields need an entry test: engineering (e.g. ECAT or university tests), medicine (MDCAT) and some universities' own tests (e.g. NUST's NET). The Higher Education Commission recognises universities and degree programmes.
What to bring
- Matric and inter certificates or result cards
- CNIC or B-form
- Domicile (for quota seats)
- Entry test result (if required)
- Photographs
Take originals plus photocopies. Offices may ask for extra documents.
Your route
- 1
Shortlist universities and confirm the programme is HEC-recognised.
- 2
Check whether an entry test applies (e.g. ECAT, NET, MDCAT).
- 3
Apply on the university's own admissions portal before the deadline.
- 4
Follow merit lists on the official website and pay the fee only through the challan it issues.
Tips & common mistakes
- Make sure the programme is recognised by HEC and, for professional degrees, the relevant council.
- Apply to several universities, because deadlines often overlap.
- Pay fees only through the challan generated by the university's portal.
- Merit lists are published on the official website. Don't rely on social media screenshots.
Frequently asked questions
Is MDCAT required for all medical colleges?+
MDCAT is the standard entry test for MBBS and BDS admissions. Check the current PMDC and university rules for details.
Fees, documents and timelines change, so Raasta deliberately doesn't quote fees. Confirm current requirements on the official website before you apply. Spotted something out of date?
