Last checked November 2026

Pakistani passports are issued by the Directorate General of Immigration & Passports (DGIP). You can get a machine-readable passport at a passport office, and renewals can often be done online. Processing categories and validity options are listed on DGIP's website.

What to bring

  • Valid CNIC (or NICOP if you live abroad)
  • Old passport (for renewal)
  • B-form and parents' CNICs (for children)

Take originals plus photocopies. Offices may ask for extra documents.

Your route

  1. 1

Keep a valid CNIC (or NICOP if you live abroad) ready.

  2. 2

Apply online for renewal, or visit a passport office for a new one.

  3. 3

Give your photo and fingerprints and pay the fee for your chosen category.

  4. 4

Track delivery on the DGIP website.

Tips & common mistakes

  • Your passport name must match your CNIC exactly. Fix any CNIC errors first.
  • Apply well before travel. Urgent categories exist but aren't instant.
  • Use only the official DGIP website to track your application.
  • Many countries require at least six months' passport validity to enter.

Frequently asked questions

Can I renew my passport online?+

Online renewal is available for many applicants through DGIP's official portal. First-time applicants usually need to visit a passport office.

Do I need an agent?+

No. You can apply directly at a passport office or online. Be wary of anyone charging extra to 'speed up' the process.

Fees, documents and timelines change, so Raasta deliberately doesn't quote fees. Confirm current requirements on the official website before you apply. Spotted something out of date?
