Get a police character certificate

کریکٹر سرٹیفکیٹ
Police character certificates (police clearance) are issued by the provincial or ICT police where you live.

Last checked November 2026

A police character certificate (also called police clearance or a no-objection certificate) confirms you have no criminal record. It's commonly needed for jobs, visas and immigration.

What to bring

  • CNIC
  • Passport (for use abroad)
  • Photographs
  • Proof of residence (if asked)

Take originals plus photocopies. Offices may ask for extra documents.

Your route

  1. 1

Find out whether you need it for local use or for abroad, because the process can differ.

  2. 2

Apply through your provincial police's service, an e-Khidmat Markaz in Punjab, or your local police facilitation centre.

  3. 3

Submit your CNIC, passport (for foreign use) and photos.

  4. 4

Wait for police verification, then collect or download the certificate.

Tips & common mistakes

  • For foreign use, check whether the embassy also needs MOFA attestation.
  • Apply in the district where you live, because the police verify your address.

Frequently asked questions

How long is it valid?+

Validity depends on who's asking for it. Many embassies accept certificates issued within the last few months.

Fees, documents and timelines change, so Raasta deliberately doesn't quote fees. Confirm current requirements on the official website before you apply. Spotted something out of date?
